Musician Biographies:

Luba R. - Piano

Luba’s musical journey began in Moscow, Russia, where she discovered her passion for the piano at the age of 6. At 14, she completed studies at a music school, focusing on piano performance, solfeggio, and music history and literature.

Continuing her education at the Moscow Pedagogical Institute, Luba embarked on a fulfilling path of teaching music and dance to young children at a kindergarten. Alongside her teaching responsibilities, she organized performances for significant events, writing scripts, providing guidance, coaching, and accompanying the children during their performances.

In 1990, Luba ventured to the United States, specifically MN, to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree in piano performance at the University of St. Katherine. With determination and dedication, she prepared for her Junior and Senior recitals, mastering an extensive repertoire to deliver captivating 45-minute solo performances.

After obtaining her degree in Piano Performance, Luba devoted her time to teaching music. She established her private studio, True North Piano, in Hugo, MN. Luba draws inspiration from a diverse range of composers, including renowned masters such as Bach, Debussy, and Kabalevsky, among others.

Luba's greatest joy and admiration lie in her students, whom she considers her favorite performers. She nurtures their talent and guides them on their own musical journeys, witnessing their growth and accomplishments with immense pride.

Rachel B. - Violin

Rachel grew up in Moorhead, Minnesota where she started playing violin at the age of 11. By age 16 she was performing with the Moorhead Apollo Strings, the MN All-State Orchestra, the Fargo-Moorhead Youth Symphony, and the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony. Some of her favorite memories from that time are performing in an orchestra with the Moody Blues and a full production of Carl Orff's Carmina Burana!

She studied Music Education at St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN where she also performed with the St. Olaf Orchestra for 4 years.  After college she taught private violin lessons and orchestra in the public schools for several years.

Since college she has performed with many string quartets in and community orchestras all over Fargo-Moorhead and the Twin Cities. She has over 20 years experience performing as a soloist for special life events including weddings, funerals, dinner parties and corporate events. Her favorite "gig" she ever played for was a surprise engagement on one of our beautiful Minnesota lakes! (She said "Yes"!)

Why live music?

Live instrumental music provides a special touch to any special occasion, from weddings to funerals, from church services to corporate events.  A live instrumentalist is always more memorable then pre-recorded music played by a DJ or laptop - and it's probably more affordable than you think! Not to mention - hiring live musicians supports your local community and economy.
